Change Your Life for You, Not Them

At last, it’s here, right in front of you, the life you want, but you start to feel a pit in your stomach. What could it be? Fear. Doubt. Your head starts to fill with noise, am I good enough? Can I truly do this? What will my friends and family think or say? I’m already been doing this for so long, it feels comfortable and so on and so on. This noise continues in your mind until it breaks down your courage and self-confidence and you are back to waking up and doing the same thing day after day. STOP!

As I write this, I’m currently turning the last page of what has seemed like a novel, a novel that has been filled with excitement, opportunity, growth, and experiences. Yet, I was doing the same thing every day and felt I was losing sight of my childhood dreams. I had to look hard in the mirror and decide within myself to make a change. A change for me and no one else. This next novel or chapter as many called it, will be 100% what I create, from the title to every word. It took me a while to get here and you can too! Forget what people say that it will be beyond stressful and a long time before you’re able to pursue your dreams. It starts now and it can be what you make it, fun, exciting and here when you want it. Let’s do this!

1. Trust Yourself and the Path

Trust, it’s such a small word that holds an immense amount of meaning. You learn to trust yourself before you can even comprehend what trust means.  When you first attempted to walk, your body trusted that your legs would move and safely make it to your parent’s open arms. As we get older, we experience times where we have been let down and our trust in people becomes jaded. As life presents us with new opportunities our little voice inside sometimes creates self-doubt and we don’t trust in the process. Regaining trust in yourself and your dreams start with you and the changes you make. Start by reminding yourself that you’ve got this and see your dreams unfold right in front of you. With the recent changes I’ve made, I have started to remind myself each day trust this path that I’ve created.

2. Push Aside the Fear

As a little girl, my imagination went to the farthest depths and I was fearless. If I wanted to jump across a stream I didn’t notice the sharp rocks or how deep the water was, I backed up, jumped as hard as I could and went for it. Fear is a simple word yet has created many complications. Many experiences have been left undone and things left unsaid because of fear. The fear of getting hurt, taking a chance, worrying about what others will think or say. All these fears have hindered my growth. This year I’m focusing on making the word growth have a significant impact on my life. Taking chances that I never would, that I would waste time pondering over instead of going for it. I refuse to let fear dictate my life! Pushing through my own fears builds new paths and allows my dreams to come to light.

3. Block Out the Noise

Every leader or creator goes through doubt and questioning from the individuals that are the closest to them as well as spectators. However, for most, this is what pushes them to greatest. Many times we can be our own worst enemies by allowing the noise of others take over our ambitions. If you’re not aware of the power of your mind and your thoughts, it is very easy to get caught up in the negativity of others. This includes their doubts and questioning of the recent changes you have made in your life. It may not make sense to them as to why you quit your corporate, steady income job to take a chance on creating your own empire, remember it doesn’t matter what makes sense to them.

This is your life, your path, your dreams and ultimately your happiness. Take a moment, clear your mind and speak what you want and feel it, feel it deep down within your soul. One day all those people will come to you and want to know your secret to success and all the along the secret was you!

Let’s Do This!

Are you ready to make the necessary changes to achieve everything you’ve wanted?

Are you truly ready?

I hope you’re screaming yes at the top of your lungs because it’s your time right now! This life is what we make it, from when we wake up to the moment we lay our heads down to bed. Our minds and bodies configure our life’s steps and paths. Our wonderful, powerful minds feed us daily and it’s important that you fuel it with positivity and useful information. The actions that we take each day either helps us get one step closer to our goals or stuck in the same place we were yesterday.

So, are you ready to make some changes?

Great post! I have a very difficult time trusting the path but you’re completely right, I need to push through that to get what I want.

  2. Kristy Whitaker says:

I love love love this message. So many times as women we make accommodations and changes for others. How important it is to make the change for ourselves! To put ourselves first!

  3. ivana11sk says:

  4. Webb of Learning says:

  7. Mr. MFC | Morning Fresh Cent says:

Very inspiring post and I love it! We all have dreams. Some simply stop there, while others take actions to make those dreams become a reality. I grew up in a conservative household and have been trying to ‘go for it’. If you don’t try then you will fail for sure, but if you just give yourself a chance than you are already one step closer to your dreams.

  8. ucancrate says:

Loved the point about fear – this is so true. Currently working through getting past my own fears of new opportunities so thank you for this post.

  9. This post is very inspirational and everybody can relate to it. If we really want to change our lives for the better we just have to do it. Love your post!

  10. I loved this post. I can relate to this 100%, there are so many things I want to do but fear is always holding me back. Fear of falure, fear of what people’s going to say. I’m in that point in my life where I’m trying to leave the fear behind, it’s not always easy but I Keep trying.

  11. Jheelam says:

“Although it may not make sense to them as to why you quit your corporate, steady income job…” – This one always gets my goat. There is no steadiness, stability or security left in the highly volatile, ever-changing job scenario today. Might be there in govt. sector but not in corporate sector anymore.
People who choose their own paths are real trailblazers for me. Loved each points you made. 🙂

  12. monycka says:

This is great! Wish i had enough courage to just quit my job and do what i love

  13. bossLadyBLOOM says:

I love the quote you started with. “Do it for you” is my quote.

It is so important to remember that you are living your life and you don’t have to report in front of anyone for what you do with it.
    Great post, loved reading it!

Change is hard both for you and those around you and some may not understand why you’re making some certain choices. To be great one needs to be fearless and curious like a child which is something that can be robbed from us as we grow older due to life experience. Awesome post, like your writing style.

  18. Jodi Graham says:

Amazing post! This reminder to trust my path came exactly when I need it 🙂 And I’m totally googling that book in the picture LOL!

  21. Viviane Feeney (@viviane_feeney) says:

Heck yes! I’m doing it right now as I get my head in the blogging a-game. I still experience pressure from others to do the sh*t they want… like going to uni, getting a mortgage when I don’t want to. But it’s people like you who shine and encourage me to go for my dreams!

  22. I can absolutely relate to this. I have had some struggles with my career since graduating college. But, I think the hardest part was dealing with the people in my life (over)sharing their thoughts! I had to learn to disconnect and just do what I need to do. Thanks for sharing this!

  23. CherishingFLo says:

Blocking out the noise is where I’m needing to get it together! I doubt myself and my talents too much! Awesome post! Very uplifting and exactly what I needed!

It’s so easy to let the people around us make an impact in our choices and I love that you’re telling people it’s okay to block out the noise and to chose the path that is for them and not what others would chose.

  27. Couldn’t agree with this more. We only have one life so we should make the best of it!

  32. The only thing greater than fear is hope. That’s what I tell myself everytime I can’t seem to push my fear away. Thank you so much for sharing!

  41. Emily Rose says:

Fantastic! I loved this post. When attempting to make a change it is always best to have the motivation that comes from inside yourself. Outward motivation is so much harder to keep around, but when you self motivate, it is lasting motivation. Thanks for sharing!

  42. I’m in that crossroad too, after deciding on a new career path. Well actually I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for the longest time and just went with what was there. Now I’m finally stepping up and working towards my goals. It’s not easy, and it takes a lot of hard work, but I’m ready 🙂

  43. aisasami says:

This is a wonderful post and it was much needed. I have been surrounded by negativity recently because of the people I work with. And this negativity makes me fearful and doubtful. But now, I want just push it aside and just do what I want to do because I know I can do it. It will be hard but I can do it.

    Thanks for the wonderful post!

  44. krish says:

    Beautiful write-up…

  45. therunaway says:

What a great and inspirational post. Yes, it is in fact quite difficult to leave everything you know and start from the very beginning. But if you do not try you will never succeed. You will never know if you could succeed. That is why trying, doing your best and believing is the only way!
Thank you for the words of encouragement!

  46. thecozycompass says:

This was a great post to read! It’s so easy to let the negativity slow us down, but we have to move past it to become who we are meant to be. Thanks for sharing!

  47. Rebecca says:

I love this sentence, “The actions that we take each day either helps us get one step closer to our goals or stuck in the same place we were yesterday.”

Something I live by and teach my clients is to aim for 1% improvement daily. That means doing one small task to move forward. It puts too much pressure to go out and think we have to climb a mountain right now. It’s easier when we break it down step by step and be present with that step rather than trying to live in the future.

    Thanks for sharing!

  48. Vox says:

This is the path that I am on now. I am finally embracing a full in entrepreneurial experience, so that I can fulfill the purpose for my life. It took me a couple of years to get here, but I am not turning back. Thanks for speaking directly to my situation!

  49. Kate Allyson says:

    Thank you!
I made the realization a little over a year ago that I was more of a spectator in my life – I was letting things happen to me instead of making things happen. I was afraid, but I knew I need to make some BIG life changes in order to be happy. Thankfully, everyone around me was very supportive and understanding – including my (now ex) husband when I said I needed to leave.
Now I’m much happier. I’m making things happen. Life isn’t perfect (it never is), but I feel much more in control, and like I’m actually living my life!

  50. Jo says:

Such a powerful post. I’ve only come to this realisation in the last year but it has made the most epic of impacts.

  51. thorton4792 says:

I agree. When you change your life for other people, then it will not be the true you that needs to come out. Plus, since we are all broken, we have a broken view of what needs to be changed, and thus, we are changing ourselves based upon everyone’s broken lens. Blessings!

  52. Disha Smith says:

Love love love this post!! I struggle with blocking out the noise sometimes. It feed my insecurities. My goal for 2019 is to do a better job at this. Life is too short to worry about what other people think and say about me. I’m going to live my life for me… not anyone else.

  53. 40yearflip says:

Excellent points! Always strive to make yourself better and do what’s right for you. That way, you are well supplied to be there for others.
